When young Ida finds herself facing the first great crisis of her life, help arrives from the most unexpected of places.

As a gay man in a world that rarely made room for people like him, Fabien has learned to meet life with a unique blend of humor, kindness, and a...

Earlier this year, I published the book "The Mist of Oblivion": the prequel to a series I am currently completing.

The book focuses primarily on Heinrich Ernst Göring, a former jurist, diplomat, and governor of German South West Africa (now Namibia).

In my book, he is an old man, afflicted by Alzheimer’s and rheumatic ailments. He spends much of his time reflecting on the life he has lived—and the women he loved: Ida and Franziska (Fanny). He was once a man driven by fervent ideals of creating...

Today, I’m going to do something that may shock and surprise you.
I’m going to write about something almost never mentioned in history books — the American concentration camps in the Philippines.

I’ll try to do it by sharing short excerpts from my own novel. You might think I’m indulging in historical suffering, but that isn’t my intention. On the contrary, I hope you’ll see that it’s really about love, respect, and the struggle to do what is good in a world where reality rarely aligns with our...

“This is the most ridiculous game I’ve ever played,” Harold shouted, snow melting down his cheeks.

“And besides, the Boers aren’t guerrilla fighters anymore! We wiped them out!”
Hermann shot him an irritated look. “Nonsense. The Boers always beat the English.”

Harold snorted. “Shows how little you know. We changed tactics! Every time a Boer attacked something belonging to England, the punishment was to burn every farm for miles around. All the men were deported for life, sent off to hard labour,...

The historical fiction series The Wolves We Feed began when I stumbled upon a forty‑five‑year‑old documentary based on interviews about two German brothers.

One grew up to become a co‑founder of Nazism.

The other would risk everything to oppose what his brother stood for.

With a death sentence hanging over him if he were ever caught, the youngest worked in the shadows to save innocent people from concentration camps and prisons.

This cost him everything — his career, his home, and his safety. At...

Today I am launching a new blog series in which I explore the historical events that form the foundation for the people and destinies in my novel. Some of these events may seem so dramatic or unlikely that they almost challenge credibility — which is precisely why I want to refer to historical sources and documentation along the way.

In my novel, Heinrich Ernst Göring receives a letter from his American friend Oscar, who in 1898 is working as a physician in Havana. He describes scenes of...

Ida Friederike Remy

(26 September 1847 – 23 April 1879)

Ida Friederike Remy was the young woman who became Heinrich Ernst Göring’s first love. In writing my book, I want to bring forward the people who inhabit the story — not merely as names in a family tree, but as living figures with hopes, fears, dreams, and destinies. Ida is one of them: a woman rarely mentioned in history books, yet one who left a deep mark on Heinrich’s life. She was his first love, perhaps also his purest.

Ida was born...

Heinrich Ernst Göring: The Man Behind the Myths

A portrait of the diplomat, the husband, and the fallen idealist

In my following blog posts, I will try to take a deeper dive into the people you can read about in my book.

Heinrich Ernst Göring (Oct. 31st 1838– Dec 31st. 1913) is one of the most complex figures in German colonial history — and in my novel. He was a man who carried great ambitions, yet was repeatedly overwhelmed by circumstances he could not control. A life that began in security...

As you can see, I have just published a new trailer. My idea is to post some information about the different characters from the book, without revealing spoilers.

Heinrich Ernst Göring is most known as the father of the infamous nazi general, Hermann Göring.

Many years ago, I stumbled upon an old documentary film—one that, quite unexpectedly, would come to influence me far more deeply than I ever imagined.

It told the story of two brothers whose lives shaped the fate of countless people in ways both extraordinary and devastating.

The documentary itself was woven from interviews with family members, acquaintances, and friends—voices that, by now, have mostly fallen silent with time.

Albert and Hermann grew up side by side, in the same home, under...
