Stein J. Rubach is a Norwegian author whose writing blends meticulous historical research with a deep fascination for the hidden stories that shape human lives. Born in Bergen and now based in Oslo, he has spent much of his career working with language — first as a translator for Norwegian TV and theatre, and later as a playwright crafting original works for Norwegian stages.
His debut novel, The Path to the Mist of Oblivion, is the first installment in a planned trilogy that explores the lives of real people caught in the sweeping forces of European history. Rubach’s fiction is rooted in historical events and biographical detail, but always driven by the emotional truth of his characters — ordinary individuals navigating extraordinary times.
With several new projects underway, Rubach continues to develop stories that illuminate the moral complexities of the past and the quiet courage of those history nearly forgot.
